What to Know Before Your BBL

If you’re looking to enhance your body’s curves and gain a more feminine silhouette then look no further. Board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Adibfar alongside his medically-trained professionals can help you achieve the results you’re looking for with the Brazilian Butt Lift. Here’s what you need to know before getting your BBL!

Essentially, a BBL is a procedure that creates a more curvy hourglass shape by utilizing unwanted fat from other parts of the patient’s body. Fat can be harvested from the abdomen and waist and reinjected into the buttocks and hips for more projection and a rounder more attractive shape. This common procedure can be broken down into two parts, (1) utilizing liposuction to harvest unwanted fat from other areas of the body and (2) reinjecting and contouring the hips and buttocks to create a more voluptuous silhouette.

Are You a Good Candidate for BBL?

If you are generally in good health and have maintained a stable and consistent weight, then the BBL can be a great option for you. Patients will need to have areas of the body with some excess fat to utilize to create a more feminine silhouette. Patients who struggle with their weight should not opt for a BBL. If they want to get a BBL they should first obtain their desired weight and maintain it. While the procedure does involve some liposuction, it certainly is not a weight loss procedure. The fat harvested for a BBL is subtle and insignificant. While some body fat will need to exist, it is not a substantial amount. Patients should also stay away from comparing their bodies to photos of celebrities and influencers on social media as they may not be realistic results or real representations.

What Can I Expect from a BBL Recovery?

Dr. Adibfar’s tailored techniques and artistry will allow for a smooth and efficient recovery. Patients may need painkillers for the first few days of recovery while Dr. Adibfar keeps a diligent eye for any signs of infection. Most patients typically return to work one to two weeks after surgery while still following Dr. Adibfar’s detailed post-operative instructions. After approximately 5 weeks patients will start to notice significantly less swelling and will need to be mindful of not sitting directly on the buttocks and resort to side sleeping. Compression garments are also worn during recovery to help the body assimilate to its new shape. Dr. Adibfar will hide incision lines in the underwear line and patients can undergo scar treatment to improve the scar if desired.
