Although commonly known as Botox, botulinum toxin A is a derived protein that works to reduce wrinkles, firm, and smooth the skin by relaxing targeted muscles. Dysport, a new alternative to the Botox brand, is the same protein, however only differs in the size of the protein, which is slightly smaller, allowing for faster results. Effective for eyebrow wrinkles, the Dysport injection works to temporarily improve moderate to severe lines between the glabellar lines.

A quick procedure of either Botox and Dysport take roughly ten minutes in office and no downtime. Aside from slight swelling at the injection sites, patients can leave Dr. Adibfar’s office without any visible signs of the procedure. Results can be seen within 2-3 days, and optimal results are visible at two weeks.

Depending on the patient’s desired end results, injection sites and unit amounts of Botox vary:
o Eyebrow Lift (2 to 5 units approx.)
o Crow’s Feet (5 to 15 units on each side approx.)
o Square Jaw/ Masseter Treatment (Approx. 40 to 60 units)
o Dimple Chin (Approx. 2 to 6 units)
o Neck/Platysmal Lines (Approx. 25 to 50 units)
o Forehead Lines (Approx. 10 to 30 units)
o Frown Lines/Glabellar (Approx. 10 to 25 units)
o Bunny/Nasal Lines (Approx. 5 to 10 units)
o Smile Lift (Approx. 3 to 6 units)
