All About the Eyes!

Our eyes say a lot about who we are and how we’re feeling. They can relay positive and radiant energy, optimism and youthfulness. Just the same, our eyes can also easily communicate when we’re lacking energy and vitality, and can make us look older then our true age. Taking care of our skin and eyes is crucial, especially in relation to anti-aging. Some of us could have inherited exceptionally dark under eye circles or hallows that may communicate fatigue even when we’re feeling great! Others will start to notice a loss of volume around their eyes and cheeks naturally as they age. Fortunately, Elements Spa’s phenomenal team of medically-trained professionals—along with board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Adibfar—have numerous available options for those looking to take better care of the precious skin around their eyes while turning back the clock. Let’s have a closer look at some available treatment options.

Fillers

If nonsurgical treatments are preferred then fillers are a great option. Although there are various fillers on the market to suit specific functions and areas of one’s face, they are all made predominantly of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring bodily substance that works by encouraging collagen production and attracting hydration to the treated area. By using a blunt micro-cannula, Dr. Adibfar is able to safely inject a chosen filler into a patient’s depleted tear troughs, as well as fill any hallow areas around the temples, brows and cheek bones to open up the eyes, give more definition and allow his patients to look refreshed. Patients experience little to no discomfort and results are long-lasting, however are not permanent.

Eyelid Lifts

Blepharoplasty or eye lid lifts can be done on the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure’s specifics greatly depend on the patient, however both allow Dr. Adibfar to access any excess skin and/or fat either above the eye (causing hooded eyelids) or under the eye (causing excessive puffy bags). Incisions for the upper eye lid lift are made in the eye’s crease to minimize any detection of a scar when fully healed. Dr. Adibfar can also remove excess fat in the lower eyelid by going inside and under the lower eyelid. In both cases, Dr. Adibfar closes any incisions in areas that blend with the patient’s natural creases for seamless healing. After approximately one week of recovery, patients’ swelling and bruising subsides and they will notice younger, more open and revitalized looking eyes with no apparent excess skin or fat.

While these options are optimal, it is important patients seek the expertise of a board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon with extensive experience injecting, as well as performing successful surgeries concerning the eye area. This will ensure that the appropriate fillers are used in the appropriate areas, as well that any surgical options are met with the utmost safety, that the perfect amount of excess skin/fat is removed and left behind, as well that advanced techniques are utilized to ensure optimal results.

As patients, we may look in the mirror and simply notice dark circles. An experienced board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon will be able to indicate any other affected areas that may need to be addressed in order to provide the best results. For example, as we age, our skull naturally changes in structure including the elongation of our orbital sockets. While we notice more hallow and sunken eyes, Dr. Adibfar may suggest also paying attention to whether our brows have drooped and our temples have sunken, all complimentary areas that when treated appropriately will open up the eyes and allow the patient to receive a natural, more youthful eye area. Regardless of which procedure or treatment you choose, Dr. Adibfar’s goal is to always achieve and surpass a patient’s realistic, desired results in a way that improves a patient’s aspects in a subtle, natural manner.
