Revirginization With Hymenoplasty and Surgical Vaginal Tightening

Advancements in cosmetic surgery have allowed more women the option of undergoing vaginal reconstruction for a variety of reasons. For some, the procedure is performed due to troubling health concerns, while others opt in as a treat to themselves and their partner. Some even choose to undergo vaginal tightening and hymenoplasty due to strict cultural or religious beliefs in regards to virginity. Repairing the wall of the hymen, as well as tightening the pelvic muscles, essentially returns these women’s vaginas to a virgin-like state with procedures that are low risk, performed quickly, need minimal recovery time and show no scars or signs of having had the procedure.

While many may believe the hymen is only broken through intercourse, it is also true that the hymen can initially rupture and continue to stretch with common, repetitive, daily activities involving physical strain, trauma and/or exercise, as well as tampon use. Women with weakened or stretched pelvic floor muscles may also seek vaginal tightening surgery as a means of reigniting their sex life and feeling more confident in the bedroom. Hymenoplasty refers to the surgical repair of the hymen (a thin membrane of tissue found below the urethra and inside the labia minora) that surrounds the opening of the vagina. The accompanied vaginal tightening procedure involves tightening the pelvic muscles while retaining the appropriate scale of contraction and flexibility to allow for regular daily functions and physical pleasure. Hymenoplasty and vaginal tightening work in tandem to give patients optimal desired results.

Some common health conditions leading women to undergo hymenoplasty and vaginal tightening may be due to post delivery or childbirth complications that leave them feeling discomfort and pain during intercourse, as well as decreased sensation due to excessive slack and protruding tissue. Their inability to control their pelvic muscles may also lead to urinary incontinence and bladder issues. Many of these women may notice they are unable to use tampons, as well feel less confident in bed due to lack of friction and sexual pleasure.

During the initial scheduled consultation, Dr. Adibfar will thoroughly discuss the patient’s options to better determine which procedure (or combination) prove most beneficial in addressing the individual patient’s concerns to allow for optimal results. The surgery will take place in one of our modern and highly-credited, medical grade sister facilities for patients’ utmost discretion, convenience, safety and comfort, based in Toronto’s downtown core and GTA. Patients are typically administered general anesthesia (sometimes local sedation). Dr. Adibfar then begins to tighten the patient’s stretched vagina canal by meticulously constricting the pelvic muscles and removing any excess vaginal lining. Once the muscles are shortened, patients are left with a firm, tight vaginal canal. For patients undergoing hymenoplasty, Dr. Adibfar repairs layers of the ruptured hymen by using fine dissolvable stitches to bring broken hymen tags together which when secured form an intact wall. The procedure typically takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to complete. A centrally located opening is also left to allow menstrual blood to pass.

Once fully healed, any signs of scarring or surgery are made invisible. Patients may experience swelling and be prescribed pain medication, and are advised to take 1-2 days off work and refrain from strenuous activity and sexual intercourse for 4-6 weeks, as well as avoid tampon use as the vagina heals.

Patients (and their partners) show marked improvement as a result of vaginal tightening and hymenoplasty. Women report drastic sexual restoration and gratification, as well as generally feel more confident and happier. Women who undergo surgery as a result of health complications are relieved by their heightened sensations and sense of well-being as previous bladder concerns and pain are reversed and eliminated.
